I've been consistently clear as a Member of the Senedd, Welsh is incredibly important – language is at the heart of our nation.
With Welsh Government's newest attempt at revising their Cymraeg 2025 strategy seeing new legislation, Conservative colleagues have highlighted misgivings like the lack of dedicated workforce plans or overburdening teachers that are already adjusting to top down re-organisation of our new curriculum. I urge Ministers to ensure balance between supporting schools, pupils, and adult language learners towards achieving an ambition we are all so supportive of overall!
I'm in absolute agreement over Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Welsh Language, Sam Kurtz MS's statements saying: "While we, as Welsh Conservatives, wholeheartedly support the promotion and teaching of the Welsh language, Labour must ensure that this Bill does not divert attention away from the areas they have neglected over the past 26 years in power; namely, literacy, numeracy, and the widening attainment gap." I'll continue to track this progress carefully!
